2004-05 News:
Hard work earned two of our Club Lehigh teams the right to travel
to Kentucky to compete in the Twenty-Fifth Annual USA Junior Olympic Boys
Volleyball Championships in Louisville, July 6-13, 2005. Both our 14s and
16s teams represented the Keystone Region in the National tournament.
Throughout the season, the Club Lehigh teams competed
against the other teams within the Keystone Region, as well as teams
from other states along
the East Coast. They each took first place in their age division in
the final Regional Championship in March, which earned them a chance
to keep
playing in Louisville.
This year there were 375 teams from across the nation, as well as from
Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Canada competing in the USA Junior
Olympic
Boys Volleyball Championships. A total of 4,500 athletes participated in
the event.

CLUB LEHIGH VOLLEYBALL TEAM IS HEADED TO JUNIOR OLYMPICS
Hard work and determination is taking a local volleyball team
to the Junior Olympics. Club Lehigh's 14 and under boys volleyball team has
won the Keystone Regional Championship Tournament, held Feb. 22nd in Shippensburg,
PA. By winning the team has qualified to play at a National level in the
Twenty-Fourth Annual USA Junior Olympic Boys Volleyball Championships in
Phoenix, AZ, July 2-8.

Club Lehigh is quite proud of both the 13s and 14s team on their recent play
at the Yorktowne Volleyball tournament! It was exciting to see both groups
play as a team and not just as individual players. In the end this element
was what brought each team to success.
The 13s (in only their second tournament ever), placed third, defeating a much more experienced Yorktowne 14-2 team in both games of the match and also taking a game from West Shore YMCA, a much bigger team that had defeated them in a previous tournament. This is a young group of players that has not yet had a lot of practice time at this point of the season. Nevertheless they achieved...and surpassed...the goal they set for the day. The 13s had a rough start at this tournament and yet came back to play better than ever later in the day. Once they got rolling they surprised even themselves at how much they can do and we look forward to seeing them continue to compete at the new level of play they discovered this day.
The 14s took first place in the tournament, beating the Yorktowne 14-1 team in a tie-breaker game that finished at 26-24. This was a hard fought battle, point for point most of the way until at the very end when it seemed Yorktowne would take the game. Mental attitude won the match for Club Lehigh as they confidently fought back from 21-24 to win the game. The team was ecstatic and proud of winning, but it was quite an emotional road getting there. One player summed up everyone's feelings as he stepped off the court and said, "I don't ever want to do that again!" The level of play from both teams in this match was spectacular with incredibly few unforced errors, almost 100% serving, long rallies that left the players breathless, hard hitting that brought compliments from the referee and defense that at times seemed almost unbelievable.
Congratulations to both teams for their hard work!

Club Lehigh hosted its first tournament of the season. The East Penn Boys
14s tournament was held at Action Sports with 5 teams attending, including
one team from Long Island Volleyball Club. Congratulations to the Club
Lehigh 14s team for winning first place! Kudos also to the Club Lehigh
13s who played
their first ever
tournament as a team!

1-4-03
18-1 Jan. 4th Tournament - In pool play we went 8 -1. In the quarterfinals
we beat West Shore 25-21 a very good game. In the semifinals we beat Yorktowne
18-1's this was our best match of the day. We won 25-21, 18-25 & 15-11.
In the finals we played Damons. They beat us in two games 17-25 & 19-25.
They showed us where our weaknesses are and what we need to practice more.
Overall a great tournament.
12-16-02
Congratulations to the 14-1 team on their recent silver medal placement
in the 12-14-02 Yorktowne Volleyball tournament!
